what the world really needs

Inspired by the genius lady at subversive crossstitch I bought a crossstitch kit at JoAnn's to do for my boss' birthday. Little does she know that I'm taking out the "Friends" verse and putting in something much more meaningful. he, he, he....

P.S. My boss and I are friends and she'll definately get a kick out of it. Oh, and she makes fun of my "craftiness" so she'll appreciate it even more.

sniff, sniff, sniff....

I've been sick. Aaron and I played hooky last Monday and a few days later I get sick. My dumb luck because you can't really call in sick a few days after you just did. Right?

Read Them and Weep

I have a new found hobby. I’ve recently realized that my library is hooked up with a whole network of libraries in the Metro-Detroit area. All I have to do is go to their website, look up a book and voila! Said book will be at my local library within a day or two. I have become a woman obsessed. Unfortunately the database will be down the whole month of April for upgrades. I’m already stressing about what I’m going to do.

Crafting for a Cause

I think it's interesting when people craft for a cause. Probably because I can't think of a craft or what cause to do it for. So when people start projects for a cause I always try to send something to help. A couple of years ago I had the opportunity to clean out my drawers and donate to the Bra Ball. This year I am going to do what I can to help out the Portrait of a Textile Worker Project. You should too.

Mmmmm......Bath Products

I was rooting around in my bathroom closet recently and discovered some lush products I had forgotten I had, specifically an Alkmaar soap that is to die for. Now, this is major excitement in my household because in the past I've had to mail order these items from Canada. Not anymore. There are now four US locations and they have mail order from the USA, too! Although, I think it's still cheaper to order from Canada but I'm not sure....I'll have to do the math tonight.

Postcards From the Edge

Check this out. Some guy has started a Postcards for Mom Project. He's bombarding his dear, sweet mother with postcards from around the world through a site he has set up. But there's a catch- She can't know about the site or who's doing it! What fun! Check out the rules and send yours out today!

It's alive!

Yes kiddos, I'm back. February was a busy month, so I'll only rehash the main points.

During the first week of February my precious Ford Taurus finally broke it's last leg and and died on me in the Caribou Coffee parking lot. Lucky for me Aaron is working up the road from where I work so I hitched a ride with him while I searched on the internet looking for a new car.

The winner? A 2001 green Jeep Cherokee. I've always wanted one so I figured I'd better get one now before they all look rounded like the new Jeep Libertys. I tend to like the boxy shaped cars!

On Valentine's Day Aaron and I went to see 50 First Dates. I'm so pathetic I cried at the end! It was so romantic and all about Hawaii and at the very end they played one of my favorite songs by Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo`ole. I bawled like a baby! No wonder we don't go out to the movies very much.

The 28th was my birthday. I think I'm starting to hate my birthday. I was in a foul mood all day and nothing was going right for the whole week before it. We decided to follow through with what we'd planned to do for a month- go to the new Hard Rock Cafe in Detroit and then on to the Greektown Casino for a little roulette. The Hard Rock was really small and REALLY loud and I don't think we'll go back. I'm glad we went because I have a funny feeling that's it's not going to be around for very long.

For as many times as I've been there, I never really realized that Greektown is only 1 block long. For being a " "-town, I thought it was on the small size. We got into the casino and headed straight for the roulette tables. At $20 a spin, I found it a little too pricey for my taste so we headed towards the slot machines. I put $5 into a machine and won $30. Being the cheapskate that I am I decided to walk away so Aaron jumped on my machine and won another $55. Since we had already quadrupled our money ($10 into $85) we decided to walk and get the hell out of dodge before dark.

I almost forgot. I have to give a shout out to the Domestic Princess for helping me get a new computer. For the last month or so I haven't been able to log into Blogger (among other things). Now I can blog from the privacy of my own home! Yippee!!!
