I'm off.....

I think this is it, this is my last entry before I'm a married woman over the weekend. You won't be seeing me until I return from my honeymoon in Hawaii on November 10. See you then!!!!

shark attack

Well, we did it. (Not get married silly goose! we're doing that on Saturday!) We made our reservation to go swimming with sharks through a company called the North Shore Shark Adventures. Aaron has always wanted to swim with sharks and I am here to make all of his dreams come true. (Awww....) The original plan was to have Aaron dropped down in the cage and I was going to stay on the boat to take pictures. The more I think about it, the cooler it would be to tell my grandchildren that their grandfather and I went swimming with sharks on our honeymoon.

I’m a sucker for a good deal

Can you believe that one of the main things I’m looking forward to doing in Hawaii is going shopping at a Ross store? What I really can't believe is the fact that there are a total of eleven Ross stores on the islands while the closest one to me is four states away!!! Yet they don't have a Target store.......

Dollar Dance

I am so incredibly torn on the whole dollar dance idea. Where I grew up I never went to a wedding that didn’t have the dollar dance. On the other hand, when I moved away to college and started working at weddings, I never saw a wedding that did have a dollar dance. I know it’s a very Midwestern thing so I might stick to my roots and have one. Oh yeah, my sister-in-law told me her dollar dance paid for her entire honeymoon to Disney World. Hmmm…..

What’s this?

I have 7 different floaty pens in my purse right now. I got them by attending conferences at different museums or they are left over from old exhibits we used to have. I feel weird about it because a.) what if they leak all over my purse? (Although, I’ve never actually heard of or seen a leaky floaty pen.) and b.) aren’t they supposed to be collectible? Hmm….but it’s so cool to whip out a floaty pen every time you have to write a check.

Bored?

Want to look at my bridal registries? Never in my life could I have imagined what a process registering is. After the first hour at Target (and mind you, I had a list) Aaron wanders off and comes back chewing on a soft pretzel, slurping a frozen coke and asking if we were done yet. Mind you, that was after the first hour. I think we were there for a total of three hours. We even had a list!

I did the JCPenney’s registry online. You can only purchase Fiestaware through their catalog or online. That’s all there is on that one.

My boss/friend went with me to register at Bed, Bath and Beyond. She was an excellent person to take because she knew the steel count of silverware, the density of bone china, etc. Unfortunately, if it was up to the “consultant” they provide you with or my friend/boss, every item on my registry would have been over $100. Well, I know my “peeps” and none of my peeps could afford that stuff. So when I got home later that night, I got online and changed a few things. ;-)

Arriba, arriba!

Fiestaware. Ahhhh…Fiestaware. How I love me some Fiestaware. I’ve always liked it, always wanted it, so of course my bridal registry is going to be full of it! I originally registered for it at JCPenney’s not knowing Kohl’s,
Marshall Field’s, Cracker Barrel and the dinning halls at Central Michigan University also carry them. (Well, I really don’t think CMU’s dining hall “carry’s them” per se, but rather “uses them for everyday use.")

Making, or rather Buying, the Band

Last week we finally picked out and purchased our wedding bands. I didn’t think I wanted anything other than the ring Aaron originally picked out for me. Then someone convinced me to get a matching ring with Aaron. I’m glad I did because I’ve always wanted a plain gold band and now I have one I can wear when I’m, let’s say, digging in the dirt or working with raw poultry. That’s my big thing- I won’t wear my diamonds while preparing raw meat. Eww.

Wedding stuff

My friend TRACEE sent me this link to a wonderful wedding jewelry site. All bridal jewelry looks the same to me and this site had just what I want- vintage, antique-looking jewelry. Here’s the earrings Aaron and I picked out together-
I got the middle ones.
