But I Do Give a Damn!

Fiestaware is coming out with a new color this fall called scarlet. I'm really getting into this Fiestaware hobby. My dream is to do a road trip next summer to the Homer Laughlin Outlet Store in Newell, West Virginia. Call me crazy, but this is the one hobby I've gotten in to that will only go up in value!

What will they think of next

I was driving home from work today when I noticed the license plate of the car in front of me. It was from Mexico. Now, keep in mind that I am in the Metro-Detroit area and I don't think I've ever seen a Mexican license plate anywhere near here. Anyways, what threw me for a loop was the bar code on plate! What an ingenious idea! That way, the police officer doesn't even have to go up to the pulled over car, they can just scan it from the front seat! Brilliant!

Perfect Timing

Directly lifted from ljc, a magazine about cottages! As some of you may know, Aaron and I signed a purchase agreement last week for a former lake-cottage-turned- home-to-live-in-all-year-round. We are very excited. Especially now that there is a magazine out there to tell me the in's and out's of decorating a cottage as well as getting the most out of our space.

Everybody loves free stuff

I heard about freecycle.org awhile ago when there were very few people on it and items were few and far in between. Now it's unbelievable how many people are on there, at least in my area. Since we are hoping to move by the end of August (cross your fingers) there are plenty of things I'm looking for- a futon for guests, new (or at least different) dining room chairs, gardening supplies, etc. I'm going to join all of my local groups so wish me luck!

Fireworks are bad, very bad...

I wasn't sure if I should mention this or not, but on the Fourth of July I was involved in a fireworks "accident". Remember how we stopped in Indiana on our way to Chicago for some fireworks? Yeah, well, there were some "duds" and one of them blew up a concrete block that flew and hit me across both feet and ankles. I'm okay, just a small gash and some major bruising and some severe pain when going up and down stairs. Other than that, I'm fine. I didn't go to the doctors for fear of being reprimanded for being in my 30's and still playing with fireworks. I wasn't though, honest! I was sitting the farthest away and I got the biggest injuries. Go figure. I have since sworn off all fireworks, including the pretty colored sparklers I bought in Indiana.

I heart museums

Check this out. Now, everybody knows how much I love museums. Here is the
Museum of Useful Things in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I want the beaker mug, and the memo holder go round, and I even want one of those folding shopping baskets.....

Time flies when you don’t blog

Wow, it really does. A lot of stuff has happened and I’m sure more is to come. I’m going to do my best to update you on it all so I may do a little back tracking. My goal is to update at least every other day because I know how annoying it is when the blogs you read don’t. Sorry about that. BTW, does anybody even read my blog?
