The Ciccone Winery

A couple of weeks ago some friends of mine went on a winery tour of of the Traverse City, Michigan area. My only request of their trip was to bring me back something, ANYTHING, from the Ciccone Winery. Why the Ciccone Winery you may ask, especially since I don't even drink? It's the winery Madonna bought for her parents. I mean, why else would she allow her image to be slapped on a wine bottle? I guess so they can charge twice as much for it.

My friends brought me back some Ciccone Olive Oil and pasta. It was delish.

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Inland North

You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."

Listen.....

SomaFM independent internet radio
Earlier in the summer a friend of mine tuned me into soma fm, a fabulous commercial-free internet radio station. I am heavily addicted to the station "Illinois Street Lounge" which is described as "Classic bachelor pad, playful exotica and vintage music of tomorrow" and now "Xmas in Frisko" which is any kind of Christmas music imaginable. Check it out. It's definately an alternative to the mainstream radio, fo' sho'.

Get Out and Vote, People!

My husband and I got up at the crack of dawn this morning, walked across the street to our local elementary school and voted til' our hearts content. Granted, only 8 people could vote at a time, there were no electronic voting machines and the chains for the pens weren't long enough for a left-handed person to vote. But still, I exercised my right and did it. (I politely pointed out the chain issue and asked for another pen. They said I wasn't the first to say something about it.)

In preparation for voting today, I got on the Michigan Secretary of State website where it oh-so-conveniently tells me a.) if I'm registered to vote or not, b.) where I go to vote and directions on how to get there and c.) what my ballot is going to look like. Too cool!

So just do it, people. Remember, you can't complain about the system if you don't even bother to vote. Oh, and don't be like P. Diddy and push the "vote or die" campaign and then not be registered to vote anywhere. That's just wrong on so many levels.
