Dreaming of a Garden

Since fall is here and next year I'll (hopefully!) have a garden, I've been thinking about what I want to put in said garden. (It's always like that for me- I tend to get crafty and want to make things around the day after Christmas, too.) My dream garden is the 4-H Children's Garden at Michigan State University. It is a beautiful, magical place and I would love to be able to create some of that magic in my own backyard. Be sure and check out the Dance Chimes and the Pizza Garden, my personal favorites!

Coming from rural Michigan, I was very active in 4H as a youth. I can even remember what the 4 H's stand for- Hands, Head, Health and Heart! So you see, anything to help out the 4H is good in my book.

I'm hoping next summer we can get to the newly opened Children's Garden at the Frederik Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It has got to be fabulous!

Awww....so sad

Chi Chi's is no more. It's not like I went there very much. Gosh, now that I think about it, I don't think I've been there in over ten years. I know I did go there for my 21st Birthday (against my wishes), drank an entire pitcher of margaritias by myself and felt no buzz from it. Gee, maybe that was the beginning of their demize, they were cheap on the alcohol. Anywho....

Viva La Fried Ice Cream.

funny and romantic

Adam Sandler has a new romantic comedy coming out just in time for the holiday season. Go to this site and see the trailer for Spanglish.

I've had a new found crush on Mr. Sandler since I cried at the end of 50 First Dates. It may have been the Bruddah Iz song they played at the end, but I think I'll attribute it to Adam.

The Obsession Continues...

Well, I went out and purchased my first place setting of the Scarlet Fiestaware at
Kohl's One Day Sale. I'm almost embarrassed to admit how much it made my day.

My next Fiesta purchase is going to be a documentary about collecting Fiestaware called "Dishes". After checking out the website, I discovered that the maker of the film lives in a house that I used to party at in college. Too weird.

Ok, I'll admit it, I even got this nifty, cool advertising poster. I have become a woman obsessed.

The Ryder Cup, tour buses and home mortgages

Sorry no updates, folks. Times have been rough in the vintage lilac household.

1.) We were suposed to close on our perfect little cottage by the lake in August but no dice. They say we have great credit and that we are pre-approved, yet they keep delaying the closing date for no reason. It's very nerve racking, especially when our lease is up in 7 days.

2.) I was rear ended in a chain reaction accident caused by a tour bus going to the Ryder Cup last week (the Ryder Cup was taking place about 2 miles from where I work.) Without going into gory details, my jeep is in the shop for the next couple of weeks and my back and neck are killing me.

So you see, instead of blogging about depressing non-interesting crap I tend not to blog at all. I'm hoping (and wishing and dreaming) that we will be in our new house in a week or so and I can start back up with more interesting (and happier) posts.
