Celebrity Bookshelf

I told the girls this weekend that I'd post about this so here it goes.....

I know, I know, I'm not a big fan of Oprah's book club either, but on her O Magazine website she has a page about what celebrities have on their bookshelves. I have a sneaky suspicion that some of these aren't true, but it's interesting to see what some of them picked out.

Windsor Weekend '05

This weekend Holly, Stephanie and I went to Windsor for a little R&R and some shopping. We had a great time even though I truly didn’t know where the hell I was going. We hit the Devonshire Mall where I dumped loads of cash into the LUSH store that had just opened up. We seemed to do a lot of shopping but then again, I was on the hunt for LUSH, Sudoku books and Tylenol 222’s, of which I scored everything I went looking for. I think the best shopping we did was at the used books stores and Value Village. Hell, I wouldn’t mind going back just to hit the used places again.

Oh and as is the case with every trip to Canada, I had to scope out the candy aisles to see what new and unique things those crazy Canucks have come up with now. This weekend's booty included Peach flavored Extra gum, Smarties and my most favorite of all of the Canadian contraband- Kindereggs.

WTF Friday v.08.12.05

Sushi Fundraiser At The Aquarium Called Bad Taste

Yeah, working on a fund raiser for a non-profit you really need to think about these things.

Oh, yeah, here's another little WTF for ya....I had a romantic dream about the new and improved Jack Osbourne this morning. Granted, it wasn't a sexual dream or a "sex" dream for that matter, just a little romantic dream. I'm torn between feeling creeped out by it or by basking in it. I am practically old enough to be his mother but that doesn't seem to matter these days.

Buy Blue

Here’s a handy, dandy little website for ya. Buy Blue tells you what companies supported W. in the last election and basically to what extent is their involvement in the Republican Party. Good to know.

Oh, and here's one for those who just want to be a responsible shopper.

Wednesday August 9, 1995

Ten years ago today Jerry Garcia died. I will always remember that day. My friend and I were on our way back to Vegas from Bryce Canyon when we found out. Imagine driving in the desert late at night listening to the Dead on the radio. As you crest over hill and look down into the Las Vegas Valley which is all lit up like a hooker’s Christmas tree the DJ announces that Jerry Garcia had died. It was a moment, really. We had just seen their last show in Vegas on May 21st. It was a very strange trip indeed.

The Weekend

My entire weekend was spent babysitting my niece and nephew. From 9am on Saturday morning until about 6pm Sunday night I was their primary caregiver. For those of you who are concerned about my well-being as well as theirs, we are fine and we are all still alive.

WTF Friday v.8.5.05

So my parents are in Alabama for my Mother’s family reunion. They really wanted us, or me or somebody to go with them. I don’t know, some how the prospects of being in Alabama in August doesn’t appeal to me, but whatever. So yesterday my dad calls me from his cell phone. They made it down there safely but he really couldn’t talk right at the moment because he was busy trying to maneuver his way around all of the garage sales. WHA???? Oh, yeah, there are thousands of them. It seems that mom forgot to mention that this weekend is also the World’s Longest Garage Sale which ends in, you guessed it, Alabama. In fact, it ends in the town that the family reunion is in- Gadsden, Alabama. Nice.

Ya know, anyone who knows me would have known that this would have been a selling point to get me to go to Alabama. Oh, and by the way, my father may become a reader of this here blog. It’s ok, he’s pretty funny and he’s been warned to play nice.

No More Wire Hangers

In searching for ways to display my newly acquired Fiestaware products, I came across this link from Martha Stewart for how to make your own wire plate hangers.

Little Happy Sunshine

I know this is old news, but the state of Kentucky has decided to stop issuing their Raisin Bran Sun license plates. What, the raisin bran sun wasn’t happy enough for you people??
