My Blogger Curse

For some reason every time I blog about something that is going to happen it never ends up happening. I can think of a dozen posts where I've talked about planning a trip or something in the future and it never takes place. On the other hand, if I don't mention it it usually happens. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me? I guess you're stuck listening to everything in past tense, folks.....

My new doctor sent me to the neurology department at the University of Michigan Medical Center and my appointment was this morning. It's been decided that I didn't have an aneurysm and that I have headaches, possibly migraines. Through diet, exercise and switching my medications around I should be able to beat this thing. We'll see.

Road Trip to Mecca

Due to my Jeep engine blowing up on my way home from Lake Michigan last weekend, the road trip to the Fiestaware Tent Sale got post-poned until the next one. Instead, one of my B.F.F.'s and I did a road trip to the brand new IKEA store in Metro Detroit. What a freakin' madhouse. We honestly felt like we were going to a major rock concert- there were parking attendants everywhere directing us where to park, there was a huge surge of people running to the front door, and there were concession stands and a DJ set up out side of the venue, I mean "store". It was extremely crowded and we felt really rushed once we got inside, too. I didn't really care for the layout of this one compared to the other ones I've been to. But from what I've heard, they are mostly set up like this one- you are forced to walk through dozens of showrooms, write down the numbers of the items you want and at the end of the store are aisles and bins that you hunt through to get your items. Maybe the other ones I've been to were less crowded and I felt like I could walk around more. Hmmm....dunno.

We definitely plan on going again but with a very specific list of what we want and probably not again for a few months.

After the IKEA adventure we headed to the Briarwood Mall in Ann Arbor to shop at the first H & M store in Michigan. We've always seen their ads in magazines for cheap, European clothing and now there is finally one in Michigan. Yee Haw.

By the Shores of Lake Michigan....

We got back really late last night from a wonderful time in Muskegon, Michigan visiting some old friends. The water was ice cold but we had a great time just hanging out at the beach, spending time with our friends and playing with their kids. We even got to do a little hiking at P. J. Hoffmaster State Park which is probably one of the best state parks I've ever been to.

We took the back way home and finally stopped at a roadside attraction that I've been wanting to stop at for years. Dinerland USA is just north of Grand Rapids and is a collection of historical diners. It was sold to new owners in March so I wanted to see it before it closes or gets moved or something like that. We ate lunch at the original Rosie's Diner but the other remaining diners were closed for repairs. We were surprised to see a mini-golf course out back with a diner theme-

All in all it was a great time. Our calendar is slowly filling up with weekends like this for the rest of the summer which makes me very happy.

Update v.6.9.06

- Last weekend we had our one day garage sale and I wasn't too thrilled with the outcome. After all of that hard work we only cracked about $100. All of our neighbors said we're in a great place for a garage sale (high traffic) but it just didn't seem to be. A lady a few streets up who was having a garage sale stopped by and said she had 3 customers all day! So I guess I was doing a lot better than her. We ended up taking half of the money and going to B.D. Mongolian BBQ for dinner.

-Last night I went to a sex toy party that was originally open to couples but since not that many men wanted to come it was women only. (Apparently co-ed parties are fairly new in the sex toy party biz) I never buy anything at those things because my husband and I don't seem to need any of it yet if you get my drift. We're doing absolutely fine without it. Maybe 10 years down the road we will......

- I went to a new doctor yesterday about my head. I was so nervous going to a new doctor in the middle of all of this but I am sooo happy I did it!!! She actually seems like she cares, she has already set up 2 new tests that my old doctor dropped the ball on and she's already taken me off of one prescription and started weening me off of 2 others!! This was definately a good move because I refuse to be like this forever. I am now a firm believer in second opinions.

- The hubby and I are heading for Lake Michigan this weekend to hang out with some old friends. It's always a blast when we are there so we should definately have a good time!

Garage Sale Weekend

We're having a garage sale at the lilac house this weekend so come one, come all. We're hoping to unload some stuff as well as make a little cash in the process.

Anyone looking for anything specific? If I have it I'll be willing to hold it back for you if you'd like, just let me know. Wish us luck.
